Just learned this morning of a great jazz music series happening at the La Jolla Athenaeum Library. Monday, April 18 features harmonica/whistling/guitar maestro Toots Thielmans, with Kenny Werner on piano, and bossa nova pioneer Oscar Castro-Neves on guitar. Man, I'm tempted to stay over a few days more in nearby Oceanside (for Jim Palenscar's steel store's grand opening hoedown) just to catch this great show!

Then on Wed., May 18, it's the Anthony Wilson Nonet. Wilson is an incredibly fluid and innovative jazz player, I highly recommend you check him out on the beautiful DVD, "Diana Krall: Live in Paris," your draw will jop.

Thanks for the tip John! Toot's is one of my all time fav's. I've alwasy thought his soulful, meandering style cries out to be adapted to lap steel. Toot's ain't getting any younger, so I'm thinkin' this is a must see.
