Can someone tell me how to translate the Snark Tuner readings into "cents". Is each mark a cent?
Sounds kinda elementry but want to be certain. I read them as 2 cent per mark? Their web site gives no instructions.
Thanks

For a rough idea go to http://steel-guitar-austin.com/Free-Stuff.html
Look at the tuning video.
Basically you need to tune your 3rds a little flat..
Figure out where your 3rds are pedals up pedals down Etc.
Figuring out what works for you is the trick.
There is no absolute answer and as you learn your tuning will evolve. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

He's asking about interpreting the tuner's markings, not how to tune.
My wife has a "Blue" chromatic model. The instructions don't say anything about it other than about sharp or flat and the "zero" in tune display. |

Correct Jack! Althought I appreciate the info from the other post.
I couldn't find my tuner the other nite and I grabbed my wife's SNARK off of her upright. Great sensitivity, good little tuner for about any instrument even the dobro.
I don't understand there tuner marking's as you stated. There graduation doesn't add up.
So I think I'll buy a cheap chromatic tuner to keep in my steel like a Korg CA40 and then I won't have to steal from my banjo and dobro cases. Heck I own't even need to borrow from the little woman with the big bass....lol |

They have a nice little cheap one that has a metronome and tone... Very good practice tool.
Around 30 bucks I think.

Thanks Ken. That's exactly what I have been thinking of getting. I know the Peterson Flip is a great one but I'm sure my GFI won't be able to tell the difference.... I probably opened a can of worms with that one. |

Yeah, the snark's demarcations don't seem to mean anything on the cent scale, I think they are just for looks, or relative/at-a-glance tuning. Good little tuner for most instruments. |

Snark makes a red, blue and some other color and they sell for a couple dollars apart starting aroung $18.95
I have the red one that that operates on vibration or mic. It's a clip on and works well on guitars and lap steel. Have not tried it on pedal steel. |

I tried the "Blue" Snark my wife has and it will work on a Pedal Steel, but as I have a Strobe O Flip, I didn't do anything except see if it would work.
Sweetwater Music puts these on sale frequently. I bought it when they had them at $10.99. |

Yea Jack they are great tuners and work well except I don't get there graduation markings on the face of the tuner. Like someone said, "maybe just on there to give the appearance of being functional" .
Still waiting for the answer of that $ 1K question.
"What value does each mark represent"? Guess will never know |

My first guess would just be decorative marks to let you know about how far out of tune you are. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . My wife, who is from W.Va, says there is nothing on the tuner to denote what each mark is. |

They are made to tune to zero or strait up is my guess.
This is how 99.9% tune _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.
