Had the distinct pleasure to sub for forum member Gordon Borland with the Buckshot Band last night at the legendary Twin Sisters Dance Hall in Blanco, TX. Great steel player friendly songlist, and Brad, Kim, and Deano made me feel most welcome.
These guys are typical of a lot of country bands in Central Texas, just skillfully doing their thing keeping traditional country alive. It's always a pleasure to do these gigs where good 'ol small town country folks just show up to dance, no light shows or lasers required. LOL.. If you get a chance, check these guys out.
Thanks for the referral Gordon, I had a blast! _________________ Lost Pines Studio

I'm about 45 minutes from the Twin Sisters place but have never stopped in. How often do they play there? |

Hey Billy, not sure when those guys are there again, but here's a link to the Twin Sisters website. They don't have 2012 calendar up yet, but looks like Buckshot is up about every 3 or 4 months. They only have the dance first Saturday of the month. Very cool family sort of venue, been there since 1870, and it's named for the twin mountains (large hills really) up behind the place. Apparently those two hills are known locally as the Twin Sisters.

Looks like I'm back out there on New Year's Eve with Marty White, if you're not working and are in the neighborhood drop by and say hi. _________________ Lost Pines Studio

I live on the south side of Canyon Lake and can see the "Sisters" from my house. |
