Spoke to Gary Morse today. Gary (from the Brooks and Dunn band) was asked to be one of the solo opening acts at the National Finalists Rodeo event held in Las Vegas recently. Full light show production in front of 18,000 people. The Pedal Steel Guitar was prominently featured in a medley including Ghost Riders In The Sky. Gary was right out in the middle of the arena promoting the instrument playing his blaze red Desert Rose steel built by Chuck Back. This was MAJOR promotion for the pedal steel guitar! Think of the amount of people that got to hear and see the instrument featured with a solo player. Gary played to a pre recorded track that was done in Nashville.
Gary is also going to be interviewed by RFD T.V. to be aired in January in which he will discuss the pedal steel guitar and his long career. Below is the youtube link to the video. Great stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PA74sXH8QsM |

Wow! That's cool, but I had to chuckle...
Quite a few years back at a much smaller scale gig at a rodeo, a band I was in had to set up on a flatbed truck outside the arena. I had my old Sho-bud, and I was a little bummed out that they didn't provide any shade....so was the drummer who had a shiny, brand new DW kit. Well it turned out that the band leader forgot to mention that he had booked this gig knowing that they were going to tow us all out in the middle of the arena....and then let all the stock out!!! Well you can believe that they kicked up a mighty cloud of dust, like the worst honky tonk I've ever seen X 1000!!!    
The drummer quit the band that day, and my Bud got much more "used"....
I wonder if Gary had as much crap in his changer as I did? |

Wow........no pressure at that gig! Just goes to show what a superb and experienced player Gary is! What about when they herded those cows next to him, I think I'd have been lookin' for a way out!.......JH in Va.

Yeah, Dan... he was playing that black MSA Classic with a violin bow thru a Korg guitar synth.
I saw him do that a few times.

Hey Skip,
I never actually heard him do it (I wish I had) but I remember when he would turn down country sub jobs because he was to into his prog writing. 
He's a great player. I'd love to hear some of that 80s stuff. |
