Okay, I went to my daughter's today and recovered by wonderful Evans Amp that she stole from me. Smile Right now it's still sitting in the back seat of my car all seat-belted in. There is no way I can get that thing in the house. I have to wait for my son to help me.

My question is this: Is there such a thing as a lightweight Amp that doesn't compromise that steel tone?

What model Evans is that? One of the selling points of most Evans amps is their lighter weight.

I just got a GK MB-200 in a Tommy Huff cabinet with a SICA 15" speaker.....I've been a tube amp guy for decades, but fronted with a Sarno Black Box this baby sounds pretty sweet.....200 watts, 22 lbs. I'll still haul out the 85lb tube monster now and then, but this amp sounds great....and looks great in the Huff western tooled cabinet...

The GK MB200 amplifiers and a separate light weight speaker, such as the Eminence EPS-15C is something to consider. Maybe even a smaller 12" speaker for lap steel.

The MB200 is 4 pounds. A light weight neo dymium magnet speaker in a cabinet and you are set.

The Fender Blues Jr. is a nice amp. The tweed one.

Erv: I agree completely, just got the tweed Jr. and it is great. Light, wonderful sound, and you can usually get a pretty good deal if you watch the specials even at the big box stores.

James,
Yes, I watched for a deal when I got mine. I even had Rick Johnson build me a matching extension speaker cabinet in tweed to go go with it.
