I moved to Nashville to play with him in 1980. I get there with U-Haul the dog, kids and everything I owned, called the band leader to tell him I was in town.... He said, man we tried to call you but you had already left town (no cell phones in those days). Johnny's producer told him not to hire a steel player because they were trying to make him sound more pop! I called my old friend Bruce Bouton just to say hello and he had me sub for him that night at Faron Young's Celebrity Ballroom right off Broadway. That night I met Don Kelly and the next day I'm on the bus headed to Canada with Red Sovine... Fun days...

Wally, sounds like you came out the winner in that situation. Never cared much for Johnny R.

Hello all Im new to the forum and would like to make my first post.
Hey John that is for sure Jim Loessberg on steel. That same night after he got finished with Johnny R. he came by Pearls Dancehall and Saloon in Ft. Worth,Texas to see Jeff Woolsey and The Dancehall Kings.Johnny R.had an early gig.By the way David Farenthold out of Houston,Texas plays steel for Jeff Woolsey. Some of yall may remember David Farenthold from the old Johnny Bush days or some may remember David from playing with Mark Chestnutt.
Thanks Eddie

It's not me too much hair and too many rods hooked up. Your right Gary. This was a single Johnny did with Landon Dodd. Wish I would have been there could have used the money. Johnny has been doing a lot singles lately.
