Interesting piece on ABC tonight about speech therapists' use of music and singing to help Gabriele Gifford recover her speech. It was pointed out that speech is contained in the left hemisphere (that was injured), while music and singing is in both hemispheres and utilizes not only pronunciation of sung words, but also pitch and timing. She could not say "light", but by singing "This Little Light of Mine", she recovered that ability and forced her right hemisphere to take over that duty. _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |
