If you search for Lloyd Green Pedal Pattle on YouTube, someone has posted a recording of Lloyd playing this.

On many occasions, I have sat at my steel trying to work out the picking between 5 secs and 10 seconds, basically the first 4 bars of the instrumental after the intro.. I thought I had sussed it once or twice but I don't know whether I have, even now after many years of going back to listening to it. It's either picking and dropping the dome of the bar onto individual strings or something else, but I have never nailed it.

Question is, has anybody ever worked out how he done it.

I don't ask for help often but I think it's a brain teaser that will fool me forever unless I get a pointer. There's a bit of rapid blocking which is just so perfect in the first few seconds of this song. Have a listen.

I didn't post the video or audio, but it's there nevertheless.

If I learn it before I die, I will be happy..

I don't intend to do that just yet though..

This is the first time I've heard this. The 1st 4 bars reminds me of the old Tom Brumley tune Pedal Patter?? I think was the name of it.

Anyway, you idea.

Is spot on as they say in Great Britain. Or somewhere over seas.

If I remember correctly, German steeler Heiko Aehle used to have his own version of Lloyd's tune as a theme song on his old webpage (not anymore) – played really well, very hard to distinguish from to the real thing. Don't know if he's tabbed it, but it could be worth a try. I think he's a forum member.

Brumleys tune by the very similar name is NOT the same as Lloyd's, which IMHO is a lot better.

Chris, Tom Brumley's Pedal Patter was written a couple of years after Lloyd Greens Pedal Pattle

Ricky..thanks for posting the link to Lloyds version.
And thanks to all who replied to this thread.
I love Tom Brumleys version too, and have got all these old albums of course, but my question was specific to that section of picking in Lloyd's Pedal Pattle.
I was kindly sent the information by email.
Many thanks to you all.
I have to practice it now.

Apples and oranges? By the way, did anyone notice the sound of Lloyd Green moving on his seat right after the music stopped? I think it's interesting that this would stay in the master.
