I`m thinking about a XT. I already have a Pod 2.0 and Pod Pro. I would be using it in the studio going direct. How do you guys use it and likes and dislikes.

Thanks, Tony.

I've been using my XT going direct to the board for about a year. I have a preamp "tone" (program) that I use that has basic reverb and delay, although most of the time I record dry and add reverb or whatever in Sonar.

I recently (Christmas) got a new X3 as my wife wanted the POD XT (what could I say). I'm using the same tones in the X3 as I had in my XT and to my ears it is slightly better.

I'll have to dig it out and check. I'll get back to you later. I only use the preamp for recording. When I use it on stage it's for effects only - no preamp, speaker, etc.

Jack when you use the Pod XT for the preamp do you just hook to the PA System from the left or right output or do you run it through a direct box or just run the 1/4" cable straight to the Sound Board?

I use the Left channel for mono output. But, the POD XT manual doesn't seem to differentiate between the two. The Left channel is usually the mono out on devices that have both left/right and the reason I use that.

However, the preamp "tone" that I have for recording is a dry (no effects) so in reality either channel would be the same.

Tony
I've been using one of these for a few years
and it works great. I use the Twin Reverb setting
and tweak it a little. I don't add any reverb
I just use my RV3 for both delay and reverb.

I use the POD XT, a Sarno Black Box, and 2 ZT Club amps. (200 watts, 22 pounds.) The Black Box really adds life and warmth to the sound.

I use the Plexi (Marshall) 100 amp model with the 4 10" speaker cab simulator. I also add a very small amount of compression and stereo chorusing between the 2 amps. I also use the Pod's reverb, instead of the reverb on the amp.

I've got a Pod XT Live which is a Pod XT made for setting on the floor with several more in's and out's. I don't use mine much any more but when I do use it I hook it up to my Variax 500 Line6 modeling guitar which hooks up to the XT with a digital cable and you can use the XT to pull up different guitar Models for different effect patches.

I love the black face with 2/12's with a little compression and delay and a pinch of plate reverb. It seems to have the most natural sound and feeling and it really works well with the Telecaster model on my Variax modeling guitar. I could be coaxed into selling my XT for a very good price if you ever decide you want one Smile

Jay, is it better because it sounds better, or because it has more features and can do more?

Hey Mike,
Definitely the sound. I had the XT since they came on the market years back, but I noticed the difference with the HD right away.
