I've read about steel guitar settings for Peavey Pro Fex. For instance Jeff Newman settings.
Can anybody tell me how/where to buy these settings.
Is it memory cards or something like that? |

It appears nobody sells the cards preloaded anymore. I googled the following terms without quotes _Peavey profex II Newman steel_ and got the following (you might ask if they'll sell you a Roland card with the values preloaded, otherwise I'd recommend a card or two for backup): http://www.gulfcoaststeelguitar.com/fex.htm
This appears to be the list of all the Newman settings, compiled by Jack Stoner. Or possibly a list of Stoner's settings.
I don't have the patience for multi effects: if I want more reverb, I'll hit the reverb knob; if I want fuzz, I think it sounds easier to turn on the Boss Tone than to scroll til I find the patch labelled "Hands 2urself". I don't wanna have to write patches or remember what patches do what. Sounds like a crapton of work. But others like 'em. Enjoy.
I'd apologize for the editorial, but I had to share my opinion as well as my assistance. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

While it takes a bit of homework to learn and program a new processor, it's really handy to have some of your favorite presets all loaded next to each other. Like most processors, the ProFex and TransFex series allow you to move your favorites near each other so you can easily scroll back and forth between them.
A lot of players just want basic 'verb and delay sounds and a processor may be overkill. But if you like using different delays, chorus, tremolo, etc. a bunch of handy presets can't be beat. |

The listing on my web site is the Newman Profex II programs. They are 99% correct but there may be one I missed or the others, inclucing Smiley Roberts, that helped proof read the listing. It was generated from a TransTube Fex and there are a couple of effect or effect name differences. |

I didn't see your site as I went a-googling, Jack. The gulf coast steel site has your name on there, though. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

My site is the www.gulfcoaststeelguitar.com site.
The listing I have was compiled in the late 90's. I bought a Peavey TransTube Fex and then a Peavey cache card from Carter Guitar co. The card came loaded with the Newman programs and how I got them. I manually copied each one to paper and then keyed them into, originally, an MS Word Doc (I'm retired so I had time to do it). It took about three months working off and on to get it entered. I originally posted it and Smiley Roberts (the main person that helped me)and several others went over it and sent me corrections, which I made.
I didn't use the Newman Profex II programs in my TransTube Fex, as it would have defeated the analog preamp (the Profex II does not have this). There are TransTube Fex (and TubeFex) programs on my web site that I developed and used. I no longer have the TransTube Fex and now use a POD XT (there are some POD XT "Tones" on my web site too). |
