Hey Yall Im playin my first gig on steel Monday,I'm playing with my band I have played bass in for 12 years so I Know all of the songs at least ! I'm playin a Mullen D10 8+5>Hilton vol>old Korg processer>Fender Powerchorus +GK Fusion 500>Aguilar 2x12 bass cab
 I put new strings on, and was thinking about losing the processer and going with a T.c Elect Chorus,Delay pedals What do Yall Think ? Any Tips ?

As for the fx
I've been a fan of multi-fx boxes for years. Used Boss GT-5,6,and 8 and my only complaint was a little bit of tone coloration (most of which I could EQ out) and a little white noise, even at unity gain. I went to a TC Nova System and that works great for me. I sometimes use an additional stompbox or two, but really like the ability to save a FAST SONG patch with subtle delay and a little verb; a SLOW SONG patch with more of each and longer delay time; a SLOW CHORUS; an OVERDRIVE; and a few others that rarely get used. With individual stompboxes you gotta twist a lot of knobs. If they're on the floor, it's a pain in the butt. Just my take on it.
Oh . . . and . . .
. . . be sure to have a full set of strings with an extra couple of thirds and fifths -- just to be safe. It's one more thing you won't have to think about (unless you break one) Also peg winder and cutters. (I'm sure you already know this, but just thought I'd mention) 
Good luck. Your playing will improve MUCH faster playing as regularly as possible with a band.

what about a mic ? will a Shure 57 work ? my GK head has a direct out will that work ? should I try both mic and Di ? Thanks for yalls help

i tell you what i found out on my first gig (outdoors) - make sure the "stage" is level (it wasnt - a brick patio) and take a blanket to cover up the steel after soundcheck (ie -when the sun hits it -suppose to be under a tent - which would have been fine at noon, but not at 2:30 when the sun moves)
- oh & dont forget your power strip / find out how many stairs/how far you have to carry 200lbs of stuff. I HAD to park in the volunteer parking and flag a golf cart down.
what i'm getting at is its the stuff you would never think about that always gets you.

Cowboy boots. roper boots, not the regular kind with long pointy toes. And cowboy had, any kind you prefer.
And one tip - precut your spare strings to fit, so you can just slap them on if one breaks....
