I loaded it in my computer back East. I loaded BIAB 2011 in my laptop.

I can't load it in my desktop here. I get RegCreateKeyEx failed. Code 5.

Now what. I've rebooted, run as administrator, but no dice. I even called Rob at the PG tech center.

I've cleaned the registry, defragged it, done everything I can think of. No deal.
Now what?

Doing a google search for that error says it's a permission problem, both the Microsoft site and others. Although you may have Administrator rights, it says you must install it as the Administrator. RIGHT click on the install icon and then left click "Run As Administrator" and see if that helps.

I have tried it as administrator,no deal, same error.

I've looked on the net, even bought Pareto Logic and
ran that. No deal. It's got me stumped.

What OS do you have?

The OS is XP Pro in a HP Pavilion MEDIA CENTER, cobbled together by my son. I get around the problem by going to the BIAB drive and opening BIAB exec there to play tunes, but it is a pain in the tush. I'm thinking of reloading BIAB 10 and taking the BIAB bb files from the 2011 hard drive and copying them to the 2010 bb files. That should give me the new real files, which is what I'm interested in at the moment.

When I find my problem I'll do it right.
Ken

Has there ever been a registry "repair" program or some similar program that claims to fix or speed up the PC? Doing a google search for that error that is what caused the error for one user.

On another it was solved with changing user permission (which I noted in my original response).

As a matter of fact, I now have two registry programs.
One is called registry booster, which I have had for several years, now ver. 2, and Pareto Logic, which I just got to see if it could help the problem. It didn't.

Registry programs can cause more problems than they claim to fix. Others consider them in the "snake oil" category.

I suspect your problems are because of the registry programs.

Jack. There's no question it's a registry problem.
My problem is fixing it. I appreciate the help.

I think it's backup time and off to an expert computer
place.

Since you have XP and if you have the XP install disc you can run XP "Repair" and that should take care of any registry problems or any OS problems.

I'll see if I can find an install disc here.

I may have it back East.
