Hi everyone, my name is Brian and I just joined your forum. I am a 30 year electric and upright bassist who took up dobro about 4 months ago. I love it! When I informed my father, he told me about an instrument he'd had under his bed since 1980. He had bought it off my uncle then who had it in his attic since the early 50's. There are no markings other than "268-W" on the neck and under the removable back. I think it may be a Roy Smeck Recording King?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks and I look forward to your forum helping me become a better player!

My first thought was a Kalamazoo also.

Thanks guys. At least that helps me start the research. Any thoughts you have on where to look or what players think of them would be appreciated as well!

It's a Recording King model 1271, made in 1937, according to my interpretation of Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars.

Moved from Pedal Steel to Steel Without Pedals.
