With all of the famous HULA Tunes........
WHY aren't there any such HULA TUNES that are straight instrumentals?
Anybody know? Ron Whitfield, Keoki Lake, Basil and other olde timers.......this is not intended for your expertise. I know you know. |

Because Hawaiian hula feeds directly off the words. Without the words there is no hula. End of story. |

Aww, Ron gave away the surprise...
I'm very glad that we had a moment to visit at the jamboree, Ray, I for one still miss hearing you play and there's a bunch of young fellows out here now that would gain a lot to hear what you hear, maybe one of these days.... |

Ron.......you messed up the knowledge test for Hawaiian Steel Guitar players! You didn't read the rules..... Shame, shame.....
Pete.......Thanks for the heads-up. A really good site. Much appreciated.......
Dave......THANK you very much for the kind words. At my age, I don't get too many kind words anymore so each and everyone I do get, is most gratefully appreciated, I assure you.
If ever there is an occasion where you think I might be able to contribute anything of value to an assemblage of enthusiastic steel players, I'd be more than willing to participate. I enjoyed having this opportunity to sit and chat with you, however it seems the time was so short. |
