Open or closed back cabinet

Is there any reason why i cannot use a sealed cab for steel.

None whatsoever. Most folks that try it, in anything other than a 4 by 12, haven't cared much for the results. If you have a closed back cabinet, go ahead and try to get a tone you like. back in the early eighty's, I ran my section 500 into a 4 by 12 closed-back and was rather pleased
