OK, folks, thanks again for all your help here...a while ago I asked about a lap timing that would help me get ready for pedal steel....but after trying E13 (G# E C# B G# E D B) I realized that I really needed just to learn on the pedal steel....

I've done that and now want to be able to play some of the same material on the lap steel (dragged the pedal steel into a field to play a farmers market, don't want to do that again!).

So I'm back to that E13 lap tuning and am serious now....but how do I get the chords that the pedals get you? The A pedal (B>C#) and 7ths are built into the tuning, but what are some of the ways to get minors, sevenths, and 4ths - slants, whatever?

A few basic tricks would be appreciated...thanks!

Steve, go over the the no pedals section. You'll get answers there.

Thanks, John, I did crosspost to that section, I also figured that there would be some pedal players who also played lap...

also strings 2 & 4 would make you a E minor if you are playing with a band you can only use two notes of the minor chord to get your minor
