1954 DÂ18 Martin Guitar Serial # 141158. Gorgeous dark face with straight lines.
This guitar is well-cared for, but not all original. It has Gotoh tuners, the braces were shaved to pre-'42 style and the bridge was replaced (by Lundberg Fretted Instruments, in Berkeley, in the early '70s), and a non-original hard shell case.
It was just checked out by Robert Johnston at Gryphon Stringed Instruments (he is the co-author of the authorized Martin history and technical reference 2-volumne set), who said Lundberg did a good job shaving the braces and with the bridge, which is high enough that the guitar does NOT need a neck re-set. Frets are ok, no signs of repair or overspray, no cracks.
I'm asking $3100 cash, as-is, and would prefer an in-person hand-off in the SF Bay Area.... and may I say that it's a total pain trying to get good photos of reflective guitar surfaces without also capturing yourself, or your dog, or the BBQ.
