Cab Driver - Hank Thompson - Curly Chalker?
Every time I saw Jim play he was able to get this great tone even on a live show. Very humbling experience trying to duplicate his tone and dynamics and phrasings!
Oops guess this might have been Chalker on this album. My bad! These two pickers have very similar tone and chops.

| The fill in riffs on the start and end, to my Ear, are the Steel Guitar and Lead Guitar playing the Riff parts together. This was done a lot with Western Swing Bands. |

Greetings Steelers from Swingfield, Mass. I just acquired the late Mr. Murphy's Bethel T-10. The instrument had gone out of tune over the time it was in the case. Does anyone out there know the exact tunings he used on this instrument when he played with Asleep at the Wheel?

I believe that's the late great Curly Chalker. He was Hank's first choice on so many albums. This is on the Songs of the Mill's Brothers LP that Hank did, "Cab Driver" This is one of my prized album of Curly's recording career.
Jim Murphy was also an incrdible C6 player that I relished to listen to. He and Curly shared tunes on Carl Smith's 20th anniv couble album in the early 70s. |

The album I had did not have any musicians credits (see below). I always assumed after hearing Murph play some of this stuff live that he was on the album. I could easily be wrong!
