Any difference between the Mid 70s and the 80s Session 400 other than the cosmetics ? Not talking the later Session 400 LTD. This one has a black widow.
Thanks !

Is the earlier one with the silver metal knobs any diferent than the later ones with the typical 80`s black plastic knobs? Other than the fact some early 400s came with a JBL ?
Thanks !!

If it is a Session 400 Limited, with the small knobs it is way different.
Some like the 400 limited, but most do not.

Thanks Justin.
Not a session 400 LTD, its a session 400, early 80s I think. Just curious if they are the same as the metal knob, plastic faceplate, sometimes JBL amps that some folks remeber. I think Dicky Overbie might have recorded with one a bit.
Thanks again.

I had both, now down to one, the newer version with the colored knobs, and I couldn't tell any difference tone-wise. Inside they looked the same also, same PCBs anyway. I didn't compare every component but I'll bet if they're not identical they're very close.

Of the many I have modded I have seen little difference in older and newer ones that would amount to an audible change.

Right from the git-go they got it right and left the design alone. I've had quite a few of them and they all sound the same. I can't tell any difference inside. We've all heard the old saying "They improved it till it wasn't worth a s***". Session 400's are the exception.

The Session 400 Limited absolutey has to have the modification perfomed. The original "come from the factory" circuit was light on the bass and had a weird mid-high content.

All of my Youtube videos are with this amp, modded by me, of course !!
