I was wondering if people out there thought the older 112's were better than the newer ones sound wise or if the newer ones are improved? They used to be so much cheaper.. I think one of my friends got one new for $350 years ago.. Are they really worth the $600 they are asking now?

No.

You can get them around 400.00 new from a volume dealer.

Look around for an older USA model that you can put the 2134 chips in, without having to desolder/solder the board.

Click on the "links" button at the top of the page. Then click on "Vendors & Instruction". There are several stores listed in the left hand column and many of them sell the NV112.

One's I can think of that sell Peavey are:

Steel Guitar Nashville (Bobbe Seymore)
Billy Coopers Music
Steel Guitars of North County (Jim Palenscar)

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from any one of these vendors.

You ask are they worth it,I sold 2 evans se200 amps
one bradshaw webb.one fender twin reverb, one session
400 limited,two fender steel kings,after i got a
nashville 112,why,because its a very warm pretty
sounding amp its light weight, and so far reliable,
i still have a nashville 400 raw powerhouse,but its
not as warm as a 112.
Yes i think there well worth the price hats off to
pv on this one.

I like my NV 112 plenty.

Ken Fox reported a while ago on a different thread that recently-produced NV 112 amps don't socket the preamp IC chips, but instead solder them to the board. So I think you can take it to the bank that this is the case. The big disadvantage to soldered-in ICs is that they're hard to change. The PC boards on modern amps tend to be thin with extremely thin traces, and it's easy to blow the whole a whole section of a board with one slip of the soldering iron. Those suckers are tough work on anyway.

So if I was looking for another NV 112, I guess I'd be inclined to find an older one. To be fair to Peavey, most other makers using ICs like this moved to soldered ICs a long time ago. But I sure wish they'd all refocus more energy on making these things serviceable again. Until that happens, I'm just sticking with my old amps.

I love my Peavey Nashville 112. I bought it after hearing Basil Henriques', and I've never regretted it. Before that I was using a Peavey Session 400.

I've been usin' a Nashville 112 since December of '04 and it's the best steel amp I've used! It's a great amp for steel guitar shows and playin' steel at the house.

WOW thanks guys.. I guess even the $600 isn't a bad price based on what yuou guys are telling me.. I just wish I had bought one when they were $400 years ago..Bobby says most the pickers on Broadway are usin these.. Any way Ill be really surprised if I like em better than my steel kings .. I got 2 of em...Im reall attracted to the portability issue of these.. I just gotta get a lighter amp for last minute small gigs and rehearsals..

They won't sound as good as your Steel Kings, but they are the next best thing IMHO.

The thing about 112s that I have noticed is if you just plug in a Vol Ped into the amp they sound great and the more effects in line seem to take away.

I've had my 112 (no-mods) for about 5 years, all the talk about GK MB-200, mine is still in the repair shop since June, I preferred the tone of the 112 over the MB-200. I've tried an Evans SE-200 to me just had too much treble, I always keep coming back to the 112, great amp for steel

Hey Steve,,,
Don't you play for Randy Travis?..That's a great endorsement for Peavey Nashville
112' s. That's exactly why I gotta try one ..It's the 80 watt power issue that I have a problem with but if you are working with huge sound systems out front which I'm sure you do then why sweat the power if you got tone? Whenever I play I'm usually micked also so I always ask for a lot of steel in the monitor...This will make up for any lack of power plus I love to hear myself in 2 directions like that even with my Fender Steel King.. This gives me the sound that I always loved when I had the awsomly heavy Stereo Rack System..

I cannot see the advantage of using two Nashville 112"s to get the quality that I get from one Steel King so in that case I would probably opt for the Steel King..

We will see how this works out over all ...It should be interesting..
