There is not going to be one.
Red did not like funerals, but there is one thing he did want. There is going to be a Celebration of Life Party for him. Red wanted everyone to party, eat pizza, and drink beer.
Arraingments are still being made, but looks like it will be Saturday the 15th in Pueblo, CO.
More details will follow. If you can't make it, you can honor him in your own town with a pizza and a beer on Saturday. Red always wanted to have fun and he always made sure everyone else was as well.
Also at the request of the Family. They do not want flowers sent. Linda and Family would love to just have you send them cards to their house.
Here is the address:

I could not find the words when I first heart this - now Pizza and Beer and a party - that's our Red
He will be smilin and lookin for the steel player to psing with -
I was at a show and a guy came up to me that did not know either one of us - he had never been to a steel show - he said, "Do you know that guy up there singing?" and I said, "Yes I count him as one of my friends, and part of the steel guitar family" - the guy looked at me and said, "you are serious" and I said. "Yes I am." The next time I saw him he was going on and on about Red.
Last time I saw him I got one of those GREAT Red hugs and in my ear - Love ya buddy
That is (now was) Red ---- always in lots and lots of hearts
I can not make it either but we are ordering in Pizza Saturday.

This is Linda.
Finally figured out how to get around on this -- I think.
I think Mike was going to try to put some additional info on the forum regarding donations. He has been very busy, so I will try to post it.
Red & I always like to donate to the steel guitar community. So if you like, you can send donations to the TSGA Benevolent Fund, or to the Red Kilby Memorial Fund that Lorraine had noted.
There is always somebody somewhere who could use a little help.
Thanks to EVERYONE !!!!! |

Yes, so sorry Linda for not getting that done yesterday. I had a buffing machine breakdown and had to rebuild the motor. So sorry.
Like Linda said, Red and Linda love to help people that face situtations they can't handle. Expecially many cancer patients, after 1 bill they can lose everything. So please donate to the Church listed above and the TSGA fund. There are so many people that get shocked like we where with Red.
This sucks I miss my friend... |

I won't be able to make the party but I think I can arrange at least one piece of pizza on Saturday. Red was well on his way to being the featured singer with the various steel players at the International Steel Guitar Convention. I will surely miss him! Scotty |

I will always remember our get together we had in The Colony after the Dallas show for beer and pizza with Mr.and Mrs Mullen, Red, Mickey Adams and myself.
I never saw Red when he was not the happiest guy around. Always a smile on his face.
I have truley lost another good friend.
Linda I am so sorry for your loss.
This Saturday I will also celebrate his life.
May GOD bless his soul and help you with your loss.

Red was one of the most giving souls that I know. We will miss his smile and his joy. God is enjoying that now. He was so good to help with the benevolent fund to help auction or give of his generosity to help Barbara and Me in Dallas. He will not be forgotten.
Our love and prayers are with you and the family, Linda.

If I'm not mistaken, the pizza restaurant on Pueblo Blvd in the 80s, was a club called Mrs Gs Silver Saddle. I've got a million memories from that club playing with Buck Starr...Mrs G was a dear friend of ours, and we were one of her top bands for about 7 years. I can't help feeling like I was connected somehow that day to Red...as I was there in the parking lot Sunday afternoon....the day he passed on...I'll be there in spirit guys...Mickey _________________ ARTIST RELATIONS: MSA GUITARS

Linda, I certainly appreciate you and Red for being so giving to our TSGA Benevolent Fund. Red was always one of the first people at the Dallas Show to come to me with a contribution and an offer to help in any way he could. Wherever we ran into each other he always had an idea about helping us with the fund or told me what he would be bringing for us to auction at the Dallas Show. He was a ray of sunshine with that smile and had such a love of people. We will miss his singing, kindness, and his calling to leave a message at our house while blowing the whistle of his train as he rode down the tracks.
Thank you, Linda, and may God be with you in your sorrow.
With Love,
Barbara Rosetta |

Linda,
We will miss Red dearly. We always looked forward to hearing him sing and see his smile. We play his CD often too. He lifted our spirits. It was at the Dallas show, I believe, that we walked into the show with you and Red. We will certainly give a donation in Red's name and have pizza on Saturday in Red's memory.
Our prayers are with you and your family. Prayers have been said for Red also.
Blessings,
Ray & Claire |

about the same time as the Pizza Memorial Gathering in Colorado, Sally and I celebrated Red's life in the way he requested.

Amazing! Tonight is the 17th anniversary of my marriage to my wife, the wonderful Dr. Kathy Van Winkle. We are celebrating with dinner at Verona, our favorite Italian restaurant, and will be joined by my sister and her husband, flying in from Los Angeles.
You all can be assured that we will have pizza some time during the night, and I will personally dedicate that part of the dinner to the memory of a great friend, Red Kilby. |
