Hey Jerry ,thanks for your try , I wire a LOT of guitars , I'm trying to wire the dual pot tone & volume in one hole , so the owner has seperate tone & volume for each pickup , I've found that fender has a few tricks that make you realise why they used metal plates for the controls , I have a feeling that the stock set-up has very little wire , & seeing where the caps are placed is an education , I realise this is a steel forum ,but my Pro II & Session 400 rarely break & I have gotten more usefull info here than any other place ,I built the Basses that the Left Banke have been touring with , & the Walnut bodied J-Bass is the winner in the tone ,& playability category , resulting in more orders it's a shame that walnut is so heavy , but I think that might be where the tone comes from ,Bill Whoa!

You can find the concentric pot J-Bass wiring diagram on page 43 of The Complete Guide to Guitar and Amp Maintenance: A Practical Manual for Every Guitar Player by Ritchie Fliegler (Hal Leonard: 1994). You are right, there is very little wire. The book has several pages of various Fender wiring schemes over the years. HTH.
