The Deluxe 6 came in to day and of course the first
thing I did was take it apart.

Under the tuner pan was just the number 8 in grease
pencil. All wiring looks original and no markings on
the pickups. The pots date as follows.

Pickup balance pot 304645, 1956 45th week
Tone pot 3046222, 1962 22nd week
Volume pot 3046114, 1961 14th week

So I'm going to assume this is a 1962 model and not
a 50's model as advertised. Don't think that makes
much difference or does it.

The case is in very good shape outside with a couple
minor marks on the tolex and typical scuffing on the
leather ends. Color is brown which is correct for this
time frame.

I won't get to plug it in until later but I'm curious
to see what it sounds like through a Carvin Legacy.

Will post picks later.

The case itself dates the guitar to the early/mid 60's.
The balance pot is most likely late 65, the "304" is Fenders part number, it's a late 64 / early 65.
So it's a pre CBS, Cool!

David you are correct. In the 50's Stackpole pots had a single digit year code (304645)but in the 60's they used 2 digits (3046114).
Fender cases were light brown Tolex in 60-62.
I'm sure your guitar is a 1962.
