This closed body double-humbucker thinline was kind of a forerunner to the Lucille model. The ES-Artist (ca. 1979-84) originally had onboard Moog electronics, but this one has been through changes (all before I got it) and now, for all intents and purposes, it's like a deluxe ES-335 except for the closed (no f-holes) body and master volume. The previous knucklehe--...owner... installed oversize and additional control plates and a pair of red LEDs on the bass-side upper horn. Two volume and tone knobs (black Tele-style--not the design choice I would have made against a hemispheric-size black plate), master volume and three-way pickup selector switch. Nice, comfortable neck, TP-6 bridge and cool tuners with knobs with built-in cranks.

Despite the alterations, this is a great guitar and really is much better than my 66 Trini Lopez..at less than half Trini's going value. Comes with OHSC. Paypal/postal MO. No trades. Email me at WEissEnbeN(AT)eArthlink(DOt)net or through the my SGF profile email link. $1700 + P/p + shipping.

[10/11: pulling this back for some adjustments...maybe ultimately a new tortoise guard as noted below.]

You said it. And sadly, those cover-up plates are the sizes they need to be given the monkeying around that lies below. Only the back-treble-side plate was standard (and was smaller than the one we see.)

Still, it's amazing this patient recovered as well as it did from a lot of botched cosmetic mischief and a Moog-ectomy.

Why not go with tortoise shell? Might have looked better with the figured maple!
