There still must be a lot of those out there! We have probably sold 3,000 plus battery mods and yet they still keep coming in like this! Both sides of board damaged. Traces repaired after cleaning with a good bath of baking soda with water and a toothbrush, replacement of some resistors and caps. Even after that I can't guarantee the unit will not suffer later damage from the acid that was released on the board.

Ken,
In all of these that you have personally repaired, have you had many come back, even years later?

2 that I recall. I had one so bad I would never sell it (lots of leakage). Lasted for about a year then it blew traces out all over. Cleaned it up again and it is still going.

I hate it when that happens...
Nicads don't like being neglected. They self discharge at the rate of several percent a day. Once they go to zero, the chemistry can be irreversibly damaged. Then they leak, and the equipment can be irreversibly damaged. _________________ Lawyers are done: Emmons SD-10, 3 Dekleys including a D10, NV400, and lots of effects units to cover my clams... |

Found only two for sale on eBay today, both battery damaged. What a shame! |

Ken,
Is the NV Ram chip the same in the Profex II and Tubefex? I'm gonna need one of each if you have any left.

Another disaster came in today. Pictures shows repair process. Board first cleaned in kitchen sink with baking soda and water, infected parts removed, board scraped and cleened with steel wool and small scraper, cleaned again in kitchen sink, hole drilled through to add jumper for damaged trace, new parts installed. Both sides of board suffered damage.
