Yep. I'm a huge Bigsby fan. I'm also a tinkerer.
So, we come to this, the humble beginnings of my Bigsbyish D-8 (or T-8, heck maybe even a quad?):
I've never been up close and personal to a Bigsby or Clinesmith, so I got in touch with Jussi Huhtakangas who graciously provided me measurements of his D-8. I then compared those figures to a ton of photos I've collected off the net. I've come up with a handful of CAD drawings and started with four keyheads.
After test-fitting them to my vintage Klusons, I found that I've made the heads a bit short. The Kluson plates overhang just a bit so I'll have to mill them down a tad.
Won't know how the billet keyheads (as well as all the other components I'll be making outta billet) will compare tonally to the original castings until I get it all together.
It'll sound like something, for sure. |

"He has subscriptions to those magazines...
What the hell is he building in there?
We have a right to know!"
Wow, that's going to be something else! Good for you. Are you going to make your own pickups, too? _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Now what's that sound from under the door?
He's pounding nails into a
Hardwood floor... and I
Swear to god I heard someone
Moaning low...
Think I'll have a pro make the pickups for me. |

I did the drawings. I have a friend who owns a commercial CNC shop. He did the machining. I'm just doing the final shaping with hand implements. |
