Just picked it up today from Bill R. HARD maple body, and hard maple wood necks at 24 1/4 scale, 3/8" spacing at the bridge, one piece milled top just like his pedal steels, beautiful inlay, gorgeous lacquer finish, Lawerence 705 reissues, tele knobs, switchcraft 3 way.. Extended legs, play sitting or standing. Tuned C6 and E13

Custom milling work is flawless, great tone, and this thing sustains long enough to go grab a beer! And.. it is the only one on the planet (today anyway Very Happy )

A couple of quick pics:

The blue amp is my Savage Macht 12 with 2 10's. Nice tone, easy to carry. Also have the 72 fender silverface Vibrolux Reverb and a boutique 15/30 watt class a O'Brien.

Another shot of "my little corner of the house"...

I am getting set up to record John next Saturday, but to my ears, the Lawrence 705 blades are very full, throaty.. more like my Gibson humbuckers in the neck position.. It is definitely not a "stringmaster" single coil type sound.. but I like it.

John will probably hate it Smile he loves his Fenders, but viva la difference! It for sure hits the blues/rock genre tone.

String spacing. I wanted 3/8th spacing at the bridge. That would mean he could not fit 10 strings on his standard necks and hardware making it very expensive. (not to mention I can barely play 8 much less 10). It also seemed more "traditional" and easier to find teaching material.

I considered a single 10 on his 12 string setup, but decided 2 eights were more practical.

I'm knocked out by my Williams S10, so I'm not surprised at what a fine job Bill did with your D8. Just beautiful.
