are you using a bass cabinet or a guitar cabinet with your bass head for pedal steel ? I have a Markbass Little Mark 2 that I am tempted to try with a lightweight cabinet. Its 500watts. I was considering selling it and getting a gk mb200 or a zt club but i would like to try it with pedal steel before getting rid of it. Its a great little amp, I just don't play much bass anymore. _________________ Emmons, Franklin, Mullen |

i'd just go ahead and try it. it could work very well...just add a little reverb or delay pedal in the chain. |

+1 to what Chris said, try it, it won't hurt anything.
My Bass Rig is an Eden WTX260 into a Schroeder 1210L cabinet, I've used it for steel, and it sounded pretty good to me for a Solid State rig (I tend to prefer tube amps for steel). Most Bass Cabs today will have a tweeter for extended range, you will probably want to dial that out or disconnect it for steel if you have that ability.
I doubt that you will get a better response from the GK vs Mark Bass, if the MB head is still lacking after you have tried it, take your cabinet to a store and try out the GK, personally I would not make the trade, but I like the MBs over the GKs for bass! _________________ Mostly junque with a few knick-knacks that I really can't do without! |

I took a look at specs, and with that high-mid at 800hz you've got a really good chance of sounding good. I run an SWR SM-500 through two open back Peavey E112 cabinets, they're Black Widows. A modern bass cab with tweeter or horns and/or aluminum-cone speakers is not going to be a good choice, but - anything that would work with the GB for steel is going to work with the MarkBass. For steel, the proportions of lower and upper midrange are important, and there are some amps that just got it with luck (Fender Twins*) and some that got it with a mid-sweep or some doubled-up mid controls - GK, SWR, Peavey.... I'd go so far as to say there's a speaker choice that would be perfect for your ears and the MarkBass - but you won't know what it is until you hear it! Sometimes it is faster to just imitate somebody else's speaker-dredging work.
*(I'm leaving out a step or two.) |
