We at the O.S.G.A. ( Ohio Steel Guitar Association ) want to thank everyone that helped us out at our last jam . We had a great crowd for our first one and the food was great . A special thank you to Mr.Albert Dowden the owner of the venue for his hospitality . We now have a home for the O.S.G.A. and i might add a very nice one to say the least . We now have another jam schedlued for Dec.12-th ,meeting starting at 2:00 pm. and the music starts at 2.30 pm. This will be a Christmas setting and we have the Robison Family Band scheduled for the Christmas music . Then we will have an open jam and you can play whatever you want . We have talked to Mr.Tom Kiley about playing at this one and he said that he would . We hope that he can bring his whole band with him ,he can play a set for us also . I might add that Mr.Sonny Curtis and Mr. Mike Sigler will always have an open invitation . If all of these players can make it this would be an early Christmas for us all . There will be a $5.00 non-member door charge and the Members spouse will get in for half price . Remember that if you want to join the O.S.G.A. this money will go toward your membership dues . There will not be any charge for members . We will have a buffet type dinner with ham , turkey and the trimmings ,the cost for that is $ 7.00 . Remember this that we are a new organization and we will make some mistakes along the way but with your help we can make this one of the best Organizations around . We would love to see all of you at the jam . Best regards,,,Gary .

Gary,
I am pretty fired up about the next meeting. I was pretty worthless as a stage hand after a couple of trips to the buffet. How 'bout that fine country cookin' ? Folks, you owe it to yourselves to come if you did not make it to the first jam. As a steel student, it was great for me to see these fine pickers in action. I gotta tell it like it is,we had a real FUN time and it will only get better.

We now have a newsletter that we will be sending out to the membership . Mr. Larry Robison is doing this for the O.S.G.A. and he is doing a very nice job of it . Thank you Larry for your help . He is the brother of Mr. Dennis Robison ,one of our fine players . I might add that Larry has taken up the steel and is coming along just fine . Again i might add that Dennis and the family band will be doing the Special Christmas music for the December jam , and folks you don't want to miss this . They have their music down to a ''T'' . I think thats good ! The best to you all . Gary . |

David,
Remember that commercial " You could learn alot from a dummy" ? Here's your sign ! Seriously though, being in meetings with these guys, you learn alot just by listening to thier conversations. I know I have learned quite a bit in the past few months that I have been involved with the O.S.G.A. . One of the goals is to promote the instrument and to the EDUCATION of students. These guys, some of the best there is,will give you an education.

Dustin this is what the O.S.G.A. Is all about to help others learn about the steel
guitar . We all can learn from each other regardles of our ages. We at O.S.G.A. Are all going through a learning process to get it up to speed .We can use all the good help that we can get . It's not about one group of players ,it's for all players , not only steel players . We appreciate all the helpers that are willing to put forth their efforts to make O.S.G.A. A great Association . Thanks ,best regards ,,,Gary . |

For Larry Robinson...Hey, in the recent newsletter we forgot to mention Bob Allans' Bass Player(forgot his name)for helping us out. Not only plays bass, plays snare drum real nice too. He also joined the O.S.G.A. on the spot. Maybe we can convert him that four-stringed thing.....

Well we have a line-up for the Christmas jam . The groups are The Robison Family doing the Christmas music . We also have the staff steel player from the Renfro Valley Jamboree Greg Jones . We have the band that Tom Kiley plays for with Dean Enboden on lead guitar . And last but not least The great Southern Gospel group ''Spirit Wind ''. We will also have the jam afterwards . I think that Mr. Ray Pemberton is going to do a set at 2:30 just before the regular sets start at 3:00 . You don't want to miss this one ,we are expecting a standing room only crowd for this one . We had a great crowd at our first one and gained several new members also . Again be sure to make plans for this one . Best regards,,,Gary . |
