Well here’s something a little different for pedal steel fans. Take a listen to an “A Christmas Wish” which originally on an EP by NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet) of the same name. I recorded an instrumental version of the song for my Christmas CD.
I’m playing acoustic guitar, six string bass, mandolin, mandocello, pedal steel and something that sounds like a Theremin but is actually my JCH D-10 played with an Ebow. Guest musicians include Dennis Diken, drummer for the Smithereens; Louis Appel, drummer and percussionist for Ronnie Spector, Andrew Carillo, guitarist for Joan Osborne; and fellow steeler and forumite Steve Alcott on acoustic bass.
Go to www.graboff.com/christmas_wish.htm If you click on the mp3 at the top, you’ll find snippets of other songs from the CD as well as some other examples of my recorded work.
Happy Holidays!

Jon,
I really enjoyed listening to your mp3

I caught you when you were sitting in with the Jimmy Nations band awhile back.
Your a terrific player and I hope to catch you again soon.

Hey Bob, nice hearing from you. By the way, Jimmie Nations usual steel player is Skip Krevins. And a fine one he is at that. Cool guitar player also. Skip played the Norwalk, CT show this and though I couldn't make it on Saturday, I heard he did a great job. You should catch him sometime with Jimmie or playing guitar with the Western Caravan along side of John Widgren (nyc's numero uno IMHO.
Colm, thanks. I'm doing another session with Laura tomorrow for her next CD with several of the guys in Calexico who are in town for a few days. Paul Niehaus will be in the pedal steel chair for this one. Should be fun.
