I have two Resos...one 60 or 70 years old..a round neck, built in Australia...given to me 40 years ago in a terrible condition..did it up but as the cone was made out of stamped tin..it spent at least 30 years just hanging on the wall ..terrible sound !
A couple or three months ago a friend of mine finished builing a nice sounding double neck Dobro..
when he told me what cone he used and that he sent for it to Stew Mac...I thought I would give it a try...the cone arrived here within the stated 3 weeks
Made the world of difference.
I thought I might try again with a Beard cone for my Squareneck Reso...prob made in China or somewhere.....nice sound but still not THE Dobro sound.......so I ordered one from Stew Mac....it hadn't arrived after 5 weeks so I emailed them....my contact just emailed straight back..."Give it two more days..then I will re ship a different way"
Still no Cone so I emailed back.....another cone was sent on the same day by special Air Mail...I recieved it today...exactly 7 days after it was shipped !
Fitted it today and it sounds great...just like a real Dobro....should do as it is spun on the original lathe that belonged to Dobro !
I can not speak too highly of the service from Stew Mac.....the Lady I deal with is Cynthia Scmittauer..
she has been so helpfull..emailing me....
...and the just sending a replacement cone with no questions asked...and probably at a higher postage rate at their expense

Stew Mac consistently has some of the best customer service around, they are good like that.

And its great that you have that wall hanger fixed and making music again!

I've been dealing with Stewmac since the late 80's with great results. It's nice to know that their customer service is international too.

Jason..
I mean that the guitar was prob made in China....the Beard cone is made by Beard on the original lathe that Dobro cones were made....Paul Beard bought and was trained on it by Dobro...so I have read
