I've been thinking about what to do with my fender 1000 for a while now. It was my first steel, and I used to play it as an A6 tuning with all 8 pedals connected to one neck.

My idea for a setup is to have the back neck tuned to C6 with most of the pedals, and E13 on the top neck with maybe a couple of pedal changes.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried this, and if you have an E13 tuning, what type of pedal changes do you have? Im thinking at least five of the pedals would be designated to the C6 neck, and the E13 tuning would be mostly for Don Helms type non-pedal playing, but if I could expand that tuning a little bit I think that could be cool.

Here's how I've got my 10-pedal 1000 set up:

E13:
0----4----5----6----7----8----9----10
G#--------A--------------G-----------
E-------------------------------D#--F#
C#-------------D---------------------
B----C#-------------Bb---------------
G#--------A--------------G-----------
E-------------------------------D#----
D--------------------------------------
B----C#-------------------------------

I basically took a lot of ideas from the Sneaky Pete B6 tuning and incorporated them into E13. Like you, I do a lot of Don Helms-type stuff on this neck, but then I can also get fancy with some E9th licks.

Back neck is the inner 8 strings of a regular 10 string C6, with pedals 2 and 3 taking the place of pedals 5 and 6:

O----1----2----3
E---------------F
C----C#---------
A---------------
G---------F#----
E--------------Eb
C----C#---------
A---------------
F---------F#----

Combining the first two pedals switches it over to A6, which is what I seem to end up using about 95% of the time I play this neck.
