Another newbie question here. (Thanks for all the good past advice!)

I have been playing Dobro for the past few years and last year took up lap steel. Then the bug bit and I got Doug to build me a Stage One PSG which I am really having fun with. I am using an old Boss volume pedal which is not the best and my next purchase will be a better one. I am looking at a couple of used Goodrich pedals and have a question. Why is a low profile preferable? It is just looks or is there a functional difference? Also, would I be better off buying a new one?

Thanks again!

Jim

low profile might be a little better if you have long legs to fit under the steel. used pedals should be fine and cheaper. the pot is really all that matters to be in good shape.

Low profile pedals can also be attached to the cross-bar of your guitar more easily.

Thanks for the info, both thru the board and privately. I just bought a used Goodrich from someone on the forum. Next piece to get is a pac-a-seat. Thanks again. Great group!

A used pedal may be a good buy. If it is all there in good shape you are ok. A new pot, new string, two or three female cord connectors, three foot of wire and some solder and you can have a complete rebuild of the pedal. Good Luck and Happy Steelin
