Thanks to Lee Jeffreiss for posting this on Facebook. Check out the solo .... shades of Lennie Tristano, Stan Kenton, etc. augmented licks. Very progressive musical thinking to drop into a traditional boogie tune. These days, the producer would probably fire him on the spot for not playing it "commercial."

He sure did! According to Lee, it's Hugh Jeffreys on steel on a Harlin D8 pedal steel, probably in A major 13 tuning (A6 with a G# on top). |
