Beginner's old ‘Faux-Bud’ mutt converted SD-10 3 x 2 Emmons setup

I can bring this guitar to the St Louis show if you want to save shipping charges. I will also have a couple of MSA classics posted soon and some lap/non pedals including a blonde Gibson Console Grande and a triple neck Gibson. In that case trades will be welcome whatcha got? I am ISO of a dual 8 profesional and an 8+ string lap steel.

There is a longer story about the guitar which I will write in a minute and share with anyone who asks, rather than clutter up this post, including a link to hi res imgaes. The significant part is that a few owners ago the vintage Sho Bud pickup was rewound by Jerry Wallace.

You may have seen this guitar bounced around the market in the last few years. It was recently sporting a cigar smoking Woody Woodpecker decal to cover up the bad attempt to imitate (restore?) the card face inlay on the front. It has been called a Sho Bud though my research indicates that the pedals and the pickup, and possibly the console front are the only actual Sho Bud parts. No creampuff. Make your comments - but be polite.

It sounds really really good and pretty much plays well and stays in tune, plus it is lightweight which is why I am asking high, it is a very capable guitar for the beginner. It was to be my gigging guitar I even thought of adding some cigarette burns to authenticate it. I picked up another beater that I like better now so good bye Faux Bud.

The changer is a pull release. I overhauled the undercarriage to make it work better, kinda like polishing a turd, but the pedals stay in tune now, and it’s a good thing because it is challenging to adjust with a wrench underneath. I had to reconfigure the LKL which at the time only lowered the high E string. Popular opinions are that the changer is a Miller (when in doubt, call it a Miller) or a Marlen. There were some posts on the SGF about it. It started life as a double neck. IMO there are parts from about 5 guitars here. Study the pictures carefully to see all the imperfections, and know this one has been around, RHPAW.

There is no case for the guitar. I have zipped it into a garment bag which doesn’t protect much but gives you something to carry it in. 262-705-3484

Keith knows I owned this at one time and I had the pickup rewound by Jerry, and also re-padded the back neck.

Everything Keith has stated I would describe as accurate. The sound was good/retro - a nice low end. It had that pull-release feel and tone like an old MarLen. I never experienced any tuning issues and it played very decent after I got it all set up - I only used it in my basement to practice on and had to sell it when I started running out of room in my small basement.
