Well it's not everyday that one of the legend's you have listened to all your life calls you and ask you to play steel for him, so i thought i would say how proud i am to have been ask to play. Whoa!

Doug Gray (Legendary Lead Singer) with the Marshall Tucker Band has ask me to play steel for him and play on the next album they are doing.

It was awesome that he came to Columbia and sit with me for about an hour and talk. What an awesome guy and i feel like i have known him all my life.

I had done a show with them as an opening act back in the 80's in Charlotte but never thought i would be ask to play with them.

I have been a guitar player all my life as well and played in rock bands that did alot of their stuff. I even quit using a pick so i would sound like Toy Caldwell.

Anyways, i thought i would stick my chest out a little and tell my buddies how proud i am. Very Happy
Thx.....kenny

Kenny, I've had a pleasure of seeing you play, so I'd like to congratulate Marshall Tucker Band on snagging one of the finest pickers in the Southeast. They could not have made a better choice. Congrats.

Good deal Kenny, congratulations. Our band, Super Grit, has done many Tucker tunes over the years. I always take my picks off and use more volume swells to try and sound like Toy. He was carrying the torch when Nashville was using vocal choruses and string sections in place of steel. The shows we worked with them, Toy was very friendly and outgoing. Hope to catch you on a gig with them.

I can offer "the dog house" here in Charlottesville if you guys want to drive up and Gary and Paul want to drive down! The AC blows cold and we could fit maybe six or seven in there.
A band I used to be in did the Marshall Tucker song 'Bob Away my Blues' I think Toy handled the C6 neck pretty well on that tune and it was a fun one to play.

Jay, sounds like a plan. Kenny suggested the beginning of September on the weekend, which is fine by me as my gig schedule allows me some freedom during those first two weeks...
