So I just happen to be in Myrtle Beach working the past few days and low and behold I see Merle is playing tonight at the Alabama Theater right here in Myrtle Beach, so I go on line and call the theater and end up with two 8th row center seats for the show..this is basically a sold out show so I have no clue how these two tickets were available but the were..the next available seats were like row 40...

So I go to get them today and there are the two tour buses out back, I spoke with a few band guys in the lot and asked if Norm was on the tour, and yes he is. So I went backstage and was able to chat with Norm for about 15 min, he looks good and sounds good, It was good to see him. No , Merle was not around yet...

Showtime is 7pm so it should be a good deal, Merle is traveling with the full band.

Well the show was great, Hag was right on, he did not miss a beat, singing or guitar, very much like his earlier years, his voice is great he, still has it ! You can see he is tired after an hour or so, but he looks great, oh, and Norm was spot on...

The Malpass brothers from NC are traveling with Merle opening the shows. Man them boys sure grew up from the last time I saw them !

There's a certain magic when he walks out , the entire theater stood up and applauded him for several minutes, after all..he is Merle Haggard...

Tony,

That's great! I'm glad to hear you happened into some great seats, a visit with Norm and a great show.

Now if only they'll return by way of the Cincinnati/Northern KY area.
