I am not sure what it is in Hendersonville that attracts great steel players to live there, but a number of the world's greatest players reside in this particular suburb. Must be something in the water. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. A lot of people in the industry, not just steeler's live in that area (and in Sumner County). Johnny Cash lived in that area (and his brother Tommy lives in that area), Conway Twitty's "Twitty City" was in that area. A friend, Bill Box, who played guitar for Bill Monroe in the 70's lived on the same street as Bobbe Seymour. And many more that I haven't mentioned.
That area is on Old Hickory Lake so that draws a lot of people. |

Some areas flooded. I did not live here at the time, but it was not as hard hit as some areas of town last year. The place I'm in now had water about 2 blocks away, but no closer. |

Its for sure not the water, I have been drinking it for years while living in the H'Ville area and my playing hasn't improved all that much.
I can remember a time when I could attend a NTSGA meeting and see as many as 7 or 8 ISGA HOF'ers. It certainly has been a cool place for a steel guitar picker to live! _________________ John Drury

Olli has the right answer Ha! Ha!
I moved here in '69 because Weldon, Jimmy Day, Curly Chalker, Tommy White, Paul F., Sonny Garrish, Jimmy Crawford, John Hughy, Sonny Burnette, lived here, along with several other great friends. Most of the acts I worked with, Billy Walker, Jean Shepard, Johnny Cash, Micky Newberry, Connie Smith, Jeannie Sealy, Ray Price, Jim and Jessie, Conway, and so on, and it's pretty close to the new Opry.
Over all, a great suburb to live and work in. I've lived every where, (gotta move when the rent is due) |

Bobbe - I have just corrected my post. Of course, Hendersonville is a suburb not a town. Nashville is the town.
The community spirit among steel players must play a part in its popularity. Another great player is Buck Reid who lists his residence as Hendersonville. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Ken,
Yes of course, Buck Reid, and Bobby Reed, (not related) but yes again, you were right, Hendersonville IS a full fledged town or city, founded in the year of 1790, by John Henderson. At that time it was quite a distence from the port of Nashville, now they are touching each other even though they are in different counties. Davidson and Sumner. The tax structure in Sumner is much better, (so far)hence, us pickers prefer Sumner Co.
Some of you folks may find interest in doing the "GOOGLE" trick to get a good feel of the town.
Gives a fair list of the "STARS" that live here, a lot for such a little town.

I used to tease Faron's guitar player, who lived in Hendersonville, about living in Hooterville. He realized that I had a point when I mailed him a letter, addressed to Hooterville, and it was delivered. _________________ C#
