I am new...like just starting to set-up my first 10 string pedal guitar. I have played standard guitar for about 50 years and always tuned to 440, however I am told not to use 440 on a pedal steel. So lets start the fun. What frequency should be used within the 435-445 range.
Hope this is a valid question.

Welcome to this great forum Pete
Knowing how to tune a psg is indispensable
but askin' how to do it here is 1 big can of worms
basically you tune the Es, Bs, As & F#s to 440 or 442 if you prefer
thirds are flattened
tuning via harmonics is the best way to know & hear what's goin' on
