I wasn't sure where to post this, but this was an EVENT that happened and I would like to ANNOUNCE that someone broke into my music room this past week and stole a Fender Twin Reverb Amplifier(blackface 1966 vintage). It had been modified with a 15" ELV speaker. They also took a Fender Percision Bass II with hardshell case that was also a 60's something model. A police report was made and they got finger prints etc. I would appreciate any one in the Austin or San Antonio area to be on the look out either in the pawn shops or someone trying to sell said items. Thanks, Don Ricketson.

Thanks Joey, I will do that. I didn't even know it was there. I still haven't heard anything back from the police. What makes it bad, those sob's had to move an Evans and some more newer stuff to get the old fender twin and bass. They had to know what they were after. Probably someone I trusted but, for the life of me I can't think of anyone I know that would do that.

Man, that makes me mad to hear stuff like this! Definately sounds like someone you know. I'm normally not a violent person, but I would be willing to make an exception of a low life like this. Hang in there bro'. Maybe this knucklehead will get caught. Check the local pawnshops, you never know.

Watch Ebay too, a few years ago I had a couple of guitars stolen and one of them popped up on Ebay a couple of months later. They had been sold twice since they were stolen and went to different buyers. The guy that had the one on Ebay knew who bought the other one, so the police got them both back for me. The guy that stole them sold them to a flea market dealer, and he sold them at a big flea market here in Austin.

They were stolen from my Church no less. We were letting a homeless guy do odd jobs around the Church and he stole my guitars in return for our kindness. He was already in jail on another charge when I got the guitars back.

Several years ago my steel guitar was stolen out of the back of the pick-up truck we were loading up in after a gig.

It only took a few minutes of "not paying attention", and it was gone!

I called everyone I knew that played steel, thinking that who ever took it would want to learn to play it, or to sell it.

My steel is a U12 MSA, and was very easy to identify.

Sure enough ... within a week a fellow steel player name Mark Frederick called me a told me my guitar was at the local "park and swap" here in Phoenix. Some old guy was trying to sell it for $100! It was only a couple of years old, and I believe it to have been worth close to $2,000 at the time.

I did get my guitar back, and hopefully the law took care of the scumbag that had it. I went and got my guitar, and called the detective to meet me when I confronted the guy. The cops didn't get there fast enough ... I threatened to "kick the s***" out of the guy, and he let me have it without question. I don't know what happened after I left.

I was deeply touched that so many other players were willing and interested in helping me get my guitar back.

I'm sure everyone that hears what happened will want to help you too.

Best of luck in your efforts!

Don...there are no words to describe what I would love to do to people who do things like this. I lost a guitar and it's the worst feeling in the world. I hope you find them. Your friend & pickin' buddy ...

Thanks, Tree, and the rest of you guys. I talked to the police today and they still haven't had any leads. I guess it's a done burglary deal. I hope some of you that go to Ebay occasionaly will keep an eye out for the amp and bass. I checked it out for awhile, but it might be months or more before it shows up there. I appreciate any ones help. Thanks again, Don.

I had a Martin D41 stolen from my Van after a gig years back. They even took the time to open the case and leave it taking only the guitar. That always bugged me more than anything thinking that lowlife was banging and scratching something he never knew the value of. Needless to say, I never could replace what I had taken years to obtain.

Don

Sorry to hear about this. I know how you feel man. Two years ago someone stole my TX FAT STRAT that I had played one time. What made it worse, my wife had bought it for an anniversary gift.

We'll keep our eyes and ears open here in Killeen.

Your friend

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, nice running into you in Branson awhile back. On the stolen equipment, it's still stolen. I did get a nice insurance settlement though. I lock my music room doors and windows a lot tighter now though.
