Really like my Carter, and am glad no one took me up on what i offered it for, also love to play guitar. I just wondered if any of you Forumites own or have ever owned a Samick 650 jazz box? What did or do you think of it? I really like mine and it's even better since i put two Gibson Humbuckers on it. Which amp have you used with yours? Getting back to psg do any of you use
the Goodrich Matchbox. Just learning to adjust it, and My friend that is selling it to me; said he didn't like it.It works really well with the 710 pickups on my Carter . Thank you for you patience with my rambling and hope someone is using the same things i am.

Here's mine Thurlon. I play it through an old Silvertone tube amp mostly that was repaired and retubed by Ken Fox a couple years ago.
This is a nice playing jazz box. This one has some upgrades, has a long scale and some pearl inlay and abalone purfling. Solid spruce top and maple body. HJS 650 TR/AV.
I think this one is from the 90's. It's identical to the one Ray Benson and other Western Swing legends autographed a few years ago. I don't know where it went, but I think it's on display somewhere.
Yeah, Gibson pups would probably be a worthwhile upgrade, but I haven't done that.
People may not know that Samick builds or did at least build the lion's share of house brand imports. A lot of the name brand guitars you see were built by Samick.
Back to steel, the Carter is a fine pedal steel guitar. I've never owned one, but I have tried them out many times at the steel shows. Always felt natural and comfortable right away and have a nice tone too.
Matchboxes since the 80's. Nice tool for cleaning up your sound. |

I have played with a Goodrich Matchbox for many years.
I like what it does to the sound and I really like the ability to adjust the volume and tone so close at hand. |
