How much functional, practical, real-world difference is there between reverb cables (braided over cloth-covered leads) and your garden variety vinyl-coated RCA->RCA cables?

First amp is a '72 SF Fender Princeton Reverb. Reverb is mostly intermittent but I think the issue is loose braided lead on the Reverb Output plug going into the amp chassis. I'm thinking a small expert (not me) solder will fix this and I won't need to buy a new set of cables. But in case I do, should I go for these specialized cloth-and-braided sets I see on eBay or just raid my hoard of RCA audio cables?

Second amp is an early 80s Yamaha G100-112. It came without a reverb can (or cables.) I have the proper Accutronics unit but need to connect it. Same question--which cables? (One of the RCA jacks on the chassis is marked with a red dot: does that mean output or input?)

Thanks for any expert advice.

I use 90 degree paired RCA cables for reverb tank connections.

Hook it up, if it doesn't work, its probably backwards. You won't hurt anything by hooking it up backwards for a minute. It's always confusing because sometimes the amp says out when it means in.

The Princeton probably has a bad tank. Double check for that by using different good RCA cables to hook it up.
