Has anybody tried the Vox Tone Lab on a steel guitar? I have one for my strat but since I don't play much guitar anymore I would like to put the board to good use but I don't want to waste my time messing with it if its not going to give me some good results. If anybody has tried it on a fiddle as well please let me know what you think. _________________ Josh Watson

Hello Joshua, I used a Tone Lab for years on 6 string. When I started playing PSG, I used it with my bassman as it didn't have reverb. I like the sound but switching back & forth became too much. As with any sort of processor, programming & writing a patch is required. Once programmed they sound good. I finally bought a NV-112 for steel only, & use the Tone Lab in the studio. That way I dont have to drag an amp for scratch tracks. Of course all final tracking is done with an amp & mic. There is no way to simulate moving air !!!!!!! |

I had a Tonelab SE ( the floor modeler) than sounded great with my pedal steel. Sold it to buy a L6 X3L... could not dial in a amp that I liked with my pedal steel. Sold the X3L and am now back to pedals/amps. The TLSE was a great modeler. _________________ Guitars: Rittenberry SD S-10, Gretsch Black Falcon.
