Ive been told by some that D'Addario pedal steel strings are not a favorite among players. Im new to this instrument, and have always used D'Addario on mandolin, Banjo and love them. Whats wrong with them?

Probably nothing. They are not one of the more popular brands of Pedal Steel Guitar strings, but they will probably work as well as anything else.

Having used D'Addario strings for many years, the only thing I can think of is that some players may find them a bit too lively/bright on PSG.

I generally use D'Addario strings on my PSG, and I find they are very consistent (don't have any funny harmonic overtones), and last a long time. The pre-packaged sets for PSG are stainless steel. They are good strings!!

I used them for years back when I got them for free and never noticed a problem with them.

If you use the hex core wound strings you'll need more travel than a round core string such as GHS.

I have used D'Addario strings for years, but I use the "Nickel"wound and they are VERY hard to find the music stores say they don't sell enough to stock them..the SS are way to bright for me,I called the factory and they WILL NOT sell direct so I have a hard time finding them..If anyone knows where I can get the "Nickel"wound ones please let me know...thanks...Charlie.........
