I have a SD10 Mullen G-2 and N.V. 112 amp. The sound is to bright for my liking, and I can't seem to get it out with AMP adjustments. Any thoughts about what I should use for a P.U. It has the stock Mullen p.u. on it now. Thanks, Larry _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

I've never heard a stock Mullen pickup that was too bright. Maybe if someone ordered one special with really light windings for one reason or another. I doubt you'll be happier with another pickup.
I would guess that your dissatisfaction is due to something else in your signal chain, fx, amp, amp settings etc. Mullen single coil pickups sound better than anything else to me in 15 years of playing Mullen guitars.
You might take a reading of the DC resistance and contact Mike or Del for their recommendation. |

Have you noticed any difference when plugging the guitar directly into the amp? Reason for asking, I noticed that you are using an Ernie Ball VP and if it has the stock 250K pot, the pedal may be coloring the tone.. |

A 250K ohm pot will make the sound darker, not brighter. |

Jerry...I did not find that at all. Until I replaced the stock pot in mine with one of Tom Bradshaw's 500K units, I could not seem to tame the highs. |

Thanks everyone for your input.
David, I'm actually using a Hilton pedal now, and the sound is no different than with the Ball pedal.
Same sound thru the amp, with or without V.P. and no effects are used at all..??????? _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

Hi Larry, on the bottom of your Hilton, you should see a tone pot.
Just turn it counter clock-wise to get rid of some of the highs.
Just don't turn it too far, or you'll start loosing the nice sustains.
I have mine ajusted about 25% below full, to get a warmer sound.
Haven't talked to you or Jean for a while. Hope all is well brother.

Larry is your NV112 a newer one? The newer amps have a mod to brighten and dump some 800. I just got a new one in stock and noticed a big difference in tone. Maybe back that high and presence back a bit and see what happens. Does anyone know when they started this Mod? |

Thanks to everyone, I think I have my problem solved. It was in the tone control on the V.P. Just a green horn here, not knowing what to do. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle
