This Saturday, the 16th I'll be playing with The Dave Russell Band at the Todos Santos Park on Willow Pass Rd in Concord, for 1 set from 3:30 to 4:30. It will our 1st gig breaking in the new guitarist and we're looking forward to it. The new guitarist also doubles on steel and keys, the same as me, so eventually we'll be working all of that into the show. But until he learns all of our arrangements and segways(sp), we're going to keep it simple with him just on 6-string guitar.

It was fun and the show went pretty well this afternoon. My wife said that the sound crew did a good job of having the steel sound good and be at the right volume, but didn't get the other instruments quite as well. We had no time for a sound check, and they had to do it all on the fly, and we change instruments alot, so I'm sure it wasn't an easy job. It was about 70 degrees and partially sunny, so it was quite pleasant and no significant tuning issues.
The band that played after us was an Eagles tribute band called Hotel California.
Unfortunately, we had to leave and didn't get a chance to hear them. One of them doubles on steel and had a Showbud Pro 1 up there. I talked to him briefly while we were packing up and they were getting ready to get on stage, and he seemed like a nice guy. They were patient and courteous of us as we did our best to exit the stage as quickly as possible.
