Hi everyone, i finally uploaded a video of Kayton playing a song, back in December, he called "Little Coquette" which was played originally by Noel Boggs I think. Its a little shaky as I was taking the video with my phone but still fun to watch I think. Ive got several more, most of which are better quality so maybe I can post them soon, enjoy.

Eric, thanks for the wonderful memories that the song Kayton played. My Uncle Joe aka "Little Zeke Miller" taught me to play that song back in the mid 60's and I've never heard many people play it since then.
Although I remember Uncle Joe calling it "Sweet Coquett" I'm sure you and Kayton had the right name, remember at the time he taught me to play rhythm on the song I would have been about 7 to 9 years old. I was born in 54 and I'm guessing it was around 61 to 63 give or take 25 years
But again thanks for the wonderful version and all of the memories that flooded my mind while listening to it!!

Pretty cool!
Coquette (or Little Coquette) is a standard in the Gypsy Jazz repertoire, and was written by Guy Lombardo originally released in 1928.

Kayton Roberts is the bee's knees. One of my favorite steel guitarists. His playing is energetic and he's always so animated. Been doing it for a long time on the same little red guitar too. Thanks Eric. |

Kayton is by far in my top two favorite steel players (the other being Jerry Byrd).Apart from being a great steel player he is just a great human being in my book. He has been kind enough to teach me a few things on steel(Little Coquette being the first song) and has been very patient with me as a beginner. I cant say enough good things about him.
yeah, I would say that Old Red could tell some stories. Kayton said he bought it new in 51, lots of history there.Glad you all enjoyed the video. |

His closer neck is from low to high :A A C# E G A C E, I'll have to look back at some notes to remember what his other neck is tuned to and I'll post it later. Hope that helps! |

That is an E13 tuning he's playing, which is the same as Noel Boggs used.

A paper that Kayton gave me has that his tunings for the outside neck are F D (sometimes changed to C) A F G Eb C F. Im a beginner as I said so this could be a stupid question, but is that incrementally the same as the E13 tuning given above? thanks everyone.
also, another one i just uploaded of "Steelin the blues" played by Kayton.
