The thing that impressed me about Don was that, no matter how well known he was, he was happy to communicate with fans he didn't know. I was astonished when I emailed him a year before he died and he wrote back. Cool

I spoke with the man several times in St Louis and I'd swear he had known me for years. One of the wittiest people I've known.

I been a Don Helms fan since early 1950's,,loved every break and kick-off he did on Ole Hanks songs,my fav. Is the break he did on "Why Don't You Love Me",I got to meet Don at a Steel Jam at McGee Miss,,and I sit and talked to Him for almost 30 Minutes, just Him and Me,,we talked about His road days with" Hank and The Drifting Cowboys",,he had me laughing at some of the things he said about some of their Shows, and driving to and from the shows,he was a down home type of person, and we talked as If we had known each other for years...R I P Don,,You may be gone,,but certainly not forgotten......

Not on this post. I enjoyed watching it. As he said in the interview, he was the last of that era. Well, then, the era is gone now, and it's a great loss. Crying or Very sad
