I accomplished what I set out to do. Build a lighter weight two piece case set for my Franklin D-10. I have a two piece set but the cases are heavy (but well made) - the steel case is 23 lbs.
The new steel case is 15.8 lbs and the Pedal bar/leg/rod case is 10 lbs. Except for the catches, I used hardware I had on hand and unfortunately there are two different style corners - one style on the steel case and another style on the pedal bar case. Except for the rear hinges, split rivets were used for mounting the hardware.

Jack,
Those are really nice looking cases. Strong and
light weight too.
I like that red velvet a lot.

I'm amazed by the talent some people have. This is a perfect example. I'm lucky if I can get my shoes on the correct feet each morning. |

I've had a couple of inquires about making custom cases. I'm not in the case business, and if you want a light weight case or case set, contact Kevin Hatton. |

...which I will do. But damn Jack, those are beautiful. When I was a student at Michigan State (1975)I played hookey one day and completely rebuilt my Sho-Bud case. I was really proud of my work, but the case was eventually stolen. Anyway, your efforts are much admired. |

I have seen quite a bit of Jack's work, and it's always professional quality.
Going light weight can be a real blessing for us who aren't so young anymore! |
