Harley James has an Alesis Quadraverb or some such that does the B3 thing nicely. We don't really know how it does it because it's a factory patch with no access to the parameters, it's a mystery! |

I have a Pog2 with a Line 6 Roto Machine. The Pog2 gives a near perfect organ sound and the Roto Machine gives the Leslie effect.
Tons of sound samples and setup here:

I ordered a POG2 based on Greg's review, and I'm not disappointed at all!!!! This thing is awesome, very easy to use, unbelievable effect!! It just arrived this afternoon. I tried it out briefly at the house this afternoon, then tried it out on a gig this evening. Sounded great, with such a short time to figure it out. I'm sure some experimentation with it over the next few days will result in even better sounds.
Greg, a HUGE thanks to you for posting not only the review of the POG2, but your other reviews and helpful tips!!! You're a great asset to this forum!!!
If you want organ sound bite the bullet and buy one of these POG2 units, I don't think you will be disappointed. For what it's worth, I got a little bit of a price break from Sweetwater. _________________ GFI U-12 Ultra Keyless, Carter Black U-12, both with Alumitones, and a sweet '70 Sho-Bud Permanent D-10, NV400 in Rick Johnson cabs, NV112, '73 Vibrosonic in Rick Johnson cabs, Hilton pedal, Steeler's Choice seat, Bessdang Gizmos from Dale Hansen, and a few other widgets and doodads.

Billy,
Go to Greg's site and pull up his review of the Pog2.
He has his 8 favorite settings listed there. |

Guys like Jimmy Smith didn't just use the Leslie. They used the Leslie in combination with an effect on the organ called Cabinet Vibrato. They would also adjust the "key click", and "Percussion" up as high as it would go. Here's an interesting vid;

Hi, the latest leslie simulator that people are raving about is the "Ventilator" by a German company. I think it is going for $500 right now. |

The best thing I've ever came across for a good organ sound is a Boss BF-2 Flanger. It's a little stompbox which is either AC adaptor powered or you can use a 9V battery. They have four knobs on top which I set this way: Manual: about 3 o'clock, Depth: Between 3 & 4 o'clock, Rate: between 3 & 4 o'clock, Res: 1 o'clock.....
If you have a Guitar Center, Sam Ash or other large music store near you they usually have a Boss display with all the stompboxes plugged in and ready to go so you can try them out. Just plug in a guitar or lapsteel (or pedal if you want to take it in) and set the Boss Flanger to these settings and you'll be amazed at how close it comes to a Leslie. I use Boss units on both pedal steel and lead guitar..........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Greg...
Just (and I hate to use the teen-idiom), AWESOME!!!
Especially "Listen to Pog2 Blues".
You're one hell of a steel player, buddy. And more even, you know how to play the Pog2.
All these box effects, to me, take a bit of time to finger them out. You got to make your playing jive with that sound effect. Someway, somehow. Otherwise, it just doesn't cut the mustard.
Personally, I'm real weak in this department. I guess I just don't have the patience to monkey around with 'settings'. I just like to plug-in and play-out.
Great stuff Greg.(and if that dang Pog2 wasn't so expensive, I'd get one today.)

I am using 2 Boss VF-1 units, one with a rotating speaker setting and one with 1 octive up and 1 down settings. We will try it tonight, for a song or two it should do the job.
